Positions in this function are responsible for providing expertise or general support in reviewing, researching, investigating, negotiating, and resolving all types of appeals. Communicates with appropriate parties’ issues, implications, and decisions. Analyzes and identifies trends for appeals. This includes senior level positions with education/certification/licensure other than an RN, such as BSW, MSW, DDS, Chiropractor, Physical Therapist, etc. (Positions responsible for claims appeals can be found in the Claims job family.)

This position is full-time (40 hours/week) Monday to Friday. Employees are required to have flexibility to work any of our 8-hour shift schedules during our normal business hours of 08:00am 05:00pm EST or CST.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Resolve Customer Service inquiries as it relates to an appeal currently in process or completed.
  • Receive Care Coordination notification cases for non-clinical assessment/intervention and provide appropriate triage
  • Process notification requirements for outpatient procedures, home health, DME, transition of care and network gap issues
  • Ensures all potential member needs are identified and forwarded to the appropriate Care Coordinator for risk validation when applicable
  • Provide training to teammates
  • Run daily reports
  • Assisting Coordinators with day-to-day questions related to cases
  • Updating documents
  • Attending meetings as required

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma / GED (or higher)
  • 3+ years of administrative experience, including the support of senior C-suite level executives in a fast-paced work environment
  • Experience using Microsoft Word to create and edit professional documents from scratch
  • Experience using Microsoft Outlook for complex calendar management, scheduling meetings
  • Experience in organizing meetings and troubleshooting Microsoft Teams and/or Webex

Telecommuting Requirements:

  • Required to have a dedicated work area established that is separated from other living areas and provides information privacy
  • Ability to keep all company sensitive documents secure (if applicable)
  • Must live in a location that can receive a UnitedHealth Group approved high-speed internet connection or leverage an existing high-speed internet service

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree (or higher)
  • Experience or knowledge of the health care industry and system
  • Experience using Adobe Acrobat for document editing and management

Soft Skills:

  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication in a fast-paced environment
  • Flexibility (process and/or system changes)

Colorado, Connecticut or Nevada Residents Only: The salary range for Colorado residents is $21.68 – $38.56. The salary range for Connecticut / Nevada residents is $23.94 – $42.40.
