The Senior Contract Manager will have primary responsibility for supporting Standard Insurance’s internal stakeholders with the procurement of services, products, commodities and professional services from various third-party providers. As part of the Supplier Management & Governance team. This role is responsible for developing and leading purchasing and sourcing strategies in collaboration with business partners and budget managers. Senior Contract Managers facilitate the selection of third-party providers through effective negotiations of contracts and service agreements in adherence to company policies and procedures. Effective communication, reporting, and stakeholder coordination are essential delivery elements to ensure customer satisfaction, team member satisfaction and financial success.

Additionally, the Senior Contract Manager researches and maintains current views of industry and supplier capabilities, market intelligence and financial analyses to effectively assist with customer sourcing needs. This role partners with key internal business areas such as Legal & Compliance, Human Resources, Third Party Risk Management, IT Asset Management, and Information Security to mitigate a variety of risks.

 

What You’ll Do

  • Proactively develop and manage positive relationships with customers, suppliers, stakeholders, peers, and business partners; must be able to balance, influence and align internal customer needs with corporate business goals
  • Develop commercial engagements within the procurement lifecycle including supplier selection, negotiation planning, supplier service level agreements (SLAs), SLA penalty framework, cost savings contract negotiations, and executing agreements.
  • Meet and exceed the expectations and requirements of internal and external customers, establishing and maintaining effective relationships and gain their trust and respect, i.e. a trusted advisor.
  • Act as a consultant to business partners in the supplier sourcing process, communicating approach for vendor agreement negotiations and/or ongoing projects
  • Draft and redline commercial components of master purchasing and service contracts, statements of work, and non-disclosure agreements
  • Demonstrated competency in facilitating, leading and influencing decision-making Enforce Software and Hardware Asset Management compliance, and Procurement Guidelines.
  • Assist with risk analysis to identify issues (financial, operational and/or regulatory) and develop risk mitigation strategy. Communicate risks and alternative mitigation strategies to business owners and cross functional partners
  • Lead continuous quality improvements in processes and tools resulting in increased efficiencies
  • Maintain awareness of key market trends and pricing as well as the availability of new products and services within the indirect spend categories. Recommend and/or counsel others on these changes and innovations.
  • Mentor Sourcing & Contract Managers on stakeholder and project management, with a special emphasis on collaboration
  • Project management skills with the ability to lead and prioritize activities.
  • Support of supplier management and governance for strategic supplier relationships
  • Follows the strategic direction set by senior management when establishing near term goals.

 

The Skills and Background You’ll Need

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work related experience

Experience:

  • Deep Knowledge of Procurement Strategy, Processes and Tools.
  • 6-10 years contract and sourcing management.
  • Experience in implementation and management of sourcing strategy and vision
  • Negotiation of project, outsourced service and asset based supplier contracts
  • Proficient in the use of MS SharePoint, Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Experience in process improvement, as well as Agile and/or Lean methodologies
  • Knowledge of legal terminology and language related to supplier agreements.
  • Proven negotiation, contracting and project management skills.
  • Demonstrated success in designing presentations for senior management.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to effectively adapt to new scenarios and changes.
  • Demonstrated ability to inspire others and build effective teams, as well as being a strategic thinker and an excellent communicator.

Professional certification required:

CPSM, C.P.M., CPIM, or CSCP or equivalent is strongly preferred

The Standard’s package also includes incentive plan participation and comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision, retirement, and paid time off.

  • Please note, eligibility to participate in an incentive program is subject to the rules governing the program and plan. Any award depends on various factors, including individual and organizational performance.

Salary Range:

$96,800.00 – $169,700.00
